Let’s Make Maval English Literate – ‪#‎Training1‬

As the first step towards making Maval English Literate, the training session for the first 2 levels of the English Literacy Program was conducted at Pawana Nagar Vidya Mandir, Kale Colony, Maval on 1st August 2016.

We intend to reach out to every type of teacher in Maval and help her make her class English Literate. With this vision in mind, we have trained Teacher Entrepreneurs, Anganwadi teachers & now training the ZP teachers. The goal is to equip every ZP teacher in the taluka with skills to train their students in LeapForWord’s English Language Program such that over the next year the students can start reading & understanding English.

The program began on a very positive note with  113  Zilla Parishad teachers attending the training session. The teachers had come from 5 different Kendra’s in Maval – Kale, Kaddhe, Chavsar, Shilim and Waru.

The Block Development Officer, Kale Sir felicitated the training program and assured to provide continued support throughout this initiative. He was really concerned about the declining number of Zilla Parishad schools and felt that competition with English medium schools was one of the prime reasons for the decline. He also believed that if we can make our teachers competent, it will be easier for us to train our kids.

The teachers were very positive about the program and showed complete involvement in the program.

Jagdish Ohal, Zilla Parishad Teacher – Students over here genuinely face difficulty in learning english langauge. This program was very innovative. We learnt new techniques and concepts. Teaching and learning English will no more be a herculean task but can be learnt with ease.

One of the teachers concluded by mentioning that the teachers were back after the 15 min break without any efforts to get them, which itself is an indicator that they were very curious and keen about the program.

We have many more trainings lined up in Maval. We will keep sharing updates and insights about this project.
